ABOUT US
Empowering children with disabilities through compassionate care and comprehensive rehabilitation since 1982.
Our Mission
To improve the quality of life for persons living with disabilities through provision of quality, sustainable and affordable rehabilitative services within a conducive environment.
Our Story
Naromoru Disabled Children’s Home is a non-profit organization that was established in 1982 in Naromoru, Nyeri County, Kenya, in response to the urgent need for specialized care for children with physical disabilities in the region. It is located in Kieni East, Irigithathi Parish within the Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri.
The center was founded through a partnership with the Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri and international medical professionals who recognized the transformative power of rehabilitation services. The institution is under the management of Franciscan Elizabethan Sisters in collaboration with the community.
What began as a small facility has grown into a comprehensive rehabilitation center, serving hundreds of children annually through orthopedic surgeries, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, prosthetics fabrication, and community-based programs.
Today, we continue to honor our founding slogan: advancing mobility, transforming lives, and empower every child to live with dignity and independence.
Our Target
At Naromoru Disabled Children’s Home, our 2026 target is clear and measurable: to reach 12,040 beneficiaries through our rehabilitation, medical, and community-based programs.
This figure represents children with physical disabilities, their families, and caregivers who will directly benefit from our services across Naromoru, Nyeri County, and surrounding regions.
What 12,040 Means in Action
Increased access to corrective orthopedic surgeries
Expanded physiotherapy and occupational therapy sessions
Fabrication and fitting of more prosthetic and orthotic devices
Strengthened community-based rehabilitation outreach
Training and support for parents and caregivers
Greater disability awareness and inclusion initiatives
Our goal is not just numerical; it is transformational.
12,040 lives touched. 12,040 opportunities restored. 12,040 steps toward dignity and independence.
